PS3 Fat Bug Could Move Copies of Final Fantasy XIII on Xbox 360

E-mail Print PDF

Sony has one week to get their stuff straight. While it's very likely that the recent issue with the Playstation Network and older PS3s (PS3 fats) will be resolved well before next week. It begs one important question. Will this affect Final Fantasy XIII sales?

Final Fantasy XIIIFinal Fantasy has been long known as Playstation franchise since making the leap to the Sony line of consoles from the Super Nintendo. But just like Grand Theft Auto, Final Fantasy shocked the gaming community when it went multi-platform for the series' main line of games (there have been multiple side titles on Nintendo consoles). So now that Microsoft has a chance to make a dent in the Final Fantasy cash-cow, Sony faces a major issue.

Playstation 3s are unable to play offline titles that require online connections. Final Fantasy may have just got a lot better looking on the Xbox 360 because of this recent glitch. While Sony will certainly have the issue resolved by FF XIII's launch in the states, you have to wonder if this will impact consumer decisions. We'll have to keep a close eye on things. Every hour that PS3 "fats" are blocked from getting on PSN and are affected by this "bug" means another few copies of Final Fantasy XIII sold on the 360.

completely impossible. People are buying PS3s for FF XIII, not 360s. 360 fanbots don't even know about the franchise. They never had it.

I still have my copy pre-ordered for my PS3, not going anywhere else. I know plenty of people who feel the same way, even with this bug, which will probably have a fix in the next day.

As the above poster mentioned, many people are buying a PS3 to get FF13.

It is a FACT that due to the 360 version the game lost 20GB of data, no real Final Fantasy fan would support that.

This will probably be fixed very shortly, a couple of days of lost functionality is not going to impact anything.

People are not going to switch to a lesser version of FFXIII or go run out and buy a 360 because they couldn't play on the PS3 from Feb 28th - March 2nd.

What's next, headlines such as "The 360 to beat PS3 in 2010 sales" because of a couple of days of lost playtime.

Only will impact those who own both consoles if it somehow goes on for a few more days. Not everyone owns both consoles. Although most people who own a 360 have gradually started buying PS3s in the last year after going 4-5 years without a new console. Hmmm. Guess that explains why PS3 sales have picked up.

I have FFXII pre-ordered for the PS3 and if they don't have their sh1t together in a day or two I do plan on cancelling my order. I'm not going to buy game if my funking PS3 isn't working, that would be funking stupid. I can always get the game later if they fix this, if not I'll never buy another Sony product, from my Sony Ericsson phone to my Bravia. I will be DONE with Sony, just like with my junkbox 360, when this PC dies I'll never buy another Microsoft product. Nintendo might win me back yet!

Oh please, the problem will be fixed in less than a day, next week everyone will have forgotten about this already.... it's probably a blessing in disguise, now all you paranoid senseless idiots can get outside for the first time this year.

No one is going to buy an overcompressed, multidisk version of final fantasy because of a glitch that will be fixed it maybe 24 hours. You run the risk of having your xbox break down while you switch to disk 2 then you will really be screwed. The ps3 version of final fantasy is far superior anyway. Bunch of drama queens writing these articles.

Considering the fact that PS3 games with trophies don't work, I think that sums it up. Look at the Sony fanboys scream. It's an opinion of a possibility. I mean grow up. It makes sense because of the trophies.

Trophies Cause Game to Shutdown

I really don't give a crap about these errors, I'm still buying it on the PS3. Lets face it, it looks 10x better on the PS3 and I've waited far too long to buy it for a different console.

MMMHahahahah (GheyBOX) u already lose 20gb of Greatness.

No doubt the PS3 version is better the question is are they going to be able to fix this easily. If not FFXIII may have same error.

True gamers know about Final Fantasy whether they own a PS3 or not. Stop fanning the flames.
