Top 5 Marvel Females We Want in the Upcoming Marvel Vs Capcom 3

E-mail Print PDF
In the world of video games, the Marvel Vs Capcom series has one of the greatest stables of fighters ever; and rightfully so considering the pools of wealth they have to draw from. Street Fighter, DarkStalkers, X-Men, Avengers, they're all packed with heroes and heroines. Sadly, so many great characters haven't appeared yet. We're focusing today on the best female characters from the Marvel side of things who have yet to appear in any of the games or haven't been announced yet. Next Monday we'll of course cover the men and Capcom, etc.. The criteria for the characters we've listed today is simple. The characters must fit into the mold of the fighting game genre. That means that nothing has to make a lick of sense. I mean look at Chun Li. She wears a low-cut dinner gown to fight in a tournament (SF IV). Seriously the characters do have to bring something to the table like agility, speed, and strength. So no more waiting; here we go.

Emma Frost
Emma Frost made her first video game appearances as a boss character in X-Men for the original NES and X-Men: Madness in Murderworld in 1989 with a follow up appearance in Konami's X-Men in 1992. Emma also showed up as a playable character in the 2004 release of X-Men Legends and again as a non-playable character in follow-up X-Men Legends II. So has this character never appeared in a MvC title? She has a cape. In our book that right there is enough.

The Black Cat
The Black Cat would be a perfect fit in the Marvel Vs Capcom world. She's a tough independent woman who refuses to take crap from anyone. The Black Cat has some "tension" between herself and Spider Man throughout both the comics and several videogames spanning every system from the SNES, PSone, to the Dreamcast and Xbox. We just hope she pops up in Marvel Vs. Capcom 3. She's got speed and martial arts training which would fit perfectly into the lineup of combatants in the upcoming fighter.

She Hulk
She Hulk brings one thing to the table that very few female fighting characters, if any, have brought - she is super tough. Like her male-counterpart she can smash. We think this is the kind of character Marvel Vs Capcom 3 needs. We've included a lot of the usual "pretty" faces and tiny waists, but a fighting game needs a t least one female character who looks like she could really hold her own. We're not talking about some character who carries a big gun or sword to compensate for being half-naked. She Hulk can smash and should smash right onto Marvel Vs Capcom 3.

Jean Grey / Phoenix / Dark Phoenix
Obviously a perfect choice for a couple reasons, Jean has yet to appear in a MvC title. She didn't even appear in the more tightly focused X-Men Versus Street Fighter. Jean is an easy pick because in the fighter genre, for some reason, additional outfits are very popular. Maybe we like playing dress up and don't tell anyone. Whatever the reason, Jean brings three distinct looks to the table right away. That's not counting the variants on the X-men character over the years either. With the Phoenix and Dark Phoenix as possible super powers of "super combos", this character needs to appear in the upcoming fighter.

Spider Woman
First off, there is already a Spider Man in the series. Equal rights for equal tights we say. And speaking of tights, she fills her's out. That's important for a female superhero right? This character wasn't bitten by a spider, but instead her dad injected her with spider blood after she got radiation poisoning. We're not sure if that's a selling point on getting her in MvC3, but it's pretty weird. Obviously the character would be agile and over the growing female population of gamers a character equal to the Spider Man in combat. On top of everything else, the character is from England. There's severe lack of English characters in the MvC series.

Honorable Mention:
American Dream – Another female counterpart character for female gamers.
Ms. Marvel – The name alone is a giveaway as to why she should be included.
The Wasp – Very underrated female comic book hero.

Good lord with the cosplay guys. Great list and I like the idea of new blood in the series, but why is there always "busty" cosplay women in the articles?

Just saying... in moderation ya know, lol.
